Hey Leute,

wollte mal mein Wissen Steigern und fragen ob Ihr meine bisherige Liste vervollständigen könnt oder Ihr vielleicht noch andere Bezeichungen kennt für hintereinander folgende Strikes.

anstatt Four Bagger kann man jetzt auch Hambone sagen.

Ja schon, aber das Wort "Hambone" wurde bei einer Liveübertragung der PBA Tour, von dem Kommentator und damals noch "blutigem" Anfänger, Rob Stone, oder so ähnlich, bei einem Vierfachen verwendet OHNE Sinn und Verstand!! Ich hab den ganzen Schwachsinn natürlich nicht genau gelesen "ENGLISH!!. Wie er dadrauf kam, weiß wahrscheinlich nur er am Besten Rolling Eyes

For a long time, it's been called a four-bagger. However....

During the 2007-2008 PBA Tour season, ESPN play-by-play announcer Rob Stone decided that since "turkey" was a cool name for three strikes, four strikes needed a more "sexy" name. For that, he pulled "hambone" out of the air. It has stuck among the bowling community. Some love it, some hate it. I personally don't mind it, but wish Rob Stone would tone it down JUST a little bit.

Actually, the USBC (formerly the ABC) has for quite some time awarded a patch to youth bowlers for TWO strikes, and called it a "Hambone." Stone knew nothing about this originally. Even after he learned that though, he continued to insist on calling four in a row a "hambone."

Generally, two in a row is a "double." Three in a row is either a "triple" or "turkey." From there on, attach the word "bagger" to the number of strikes. "Four-bagger," "five-bagger," etc. Some will take six and call it a "six-pack."

So yes, there's the story behind the hambone. I'll see if I can dig up a video for you, when the "hambone" was "born."

A clean game is indeed all spares and strikes, though the "fill" ball at the end (the 3rd ball in the 10th frame) doesn't necessarily have to be a spare or strike.

One of the things about bowling terminology is that only a few terms are actually defined in the rulebook; most terms are "unofficial" terms, coined by bowlers over the years, and have just stuck. Some terms even change regionally. For example, when a right-handed bowler "crosses over" to the 1-2 pocket for a strike (not the normal 1-3), most of the country will call that "going Brooklyn." In the New York City area, many bowlers will call that "going Jersey."

It's an odd sport, but an oh-so-good one.

und genau so kann man über die bezeichnung nickel für five in a row streiten Wink

da sind die drauf gekommen wegen ihrer 5dollar münze, wird auch nickel genannt
