Hello Guys,
my question is:

it is possible to be a bowling pro in the USA?
i mean, if i'm emigrate to the USA and play there in a club...
its like ... to being a footballstar in germany like to be a bowlingstar in usa? - not easy?

i hope u understand what i mean xD

If you want to become a pro bowler the first step is to be successful at the PBA Regional Tour. It's expensive but if you are as good as you have to be to become a pro it should be no problem for you. The best ones of each region becomes "exempt player". As far as I know there are other ways to get exempt like highest average on regional tour and things like that.
As an exempt player you don't have to qualify for the top 64 round. There are 54 exempt players in one season which don't have to qualify. The 10 slots besides that are for the remain bowlers who aren't exempt but want to qualify. Then you have to play a lot of rounds and games against very very good players. Before you can play there if you are not a Exempt Player you have to get into cash in one regional tournament otherwise you are not allowed to play there.
Before that, there are some necessary qualities you must have.
A 220 average is minimum to get good positions there.
That doesn't sound that much but because of the pba patterns it's really hard to play that good. I would say most of the players who average 220+ here would average approximately 190 due to the fact it is so hard.

i mean, give it some good clubs in the usa or its just single cups there ?!

Generally there aren't clubs as the ones you know from Germany.
If you are an active bowler you will play in many leagues. Most leagues are played weekly and partly with pba patterns.
There are many tournaments you can contest with partners as a double or a team but there aren't clubs like here as far as I know.

Another possibility to win Exemption is going through the PBA Tour Trials. It is held once a year, with 45 games bowled in 5 days on the 5 different PBA Patterns. The Top 7 or 8 bowlers win an exemption for the year.

I give you a helpful advice. "Pistol Pete" played in the PBA Years ago. BUT he knows everything about PBA and so on. Call him up, or PM, he is in our Forum too. And he is one of the best Balldriller in Germany, that`s for sure...............

If you have the time and the money it would be a great experience for everyone to play here. You are able to learn more about bowling in a shorter amount of time than in Germany.

It doesn't have to be PBA... You can join a couple of summer / fall leagues and have some fun Smile

But remember - with an average of 210 you are just one of thousands in a state like Oregon Exclamation
